Los Angeles City Council unanimously passed our amendment to the City’s Responsible Banking Ordinance

Great news! On June 26, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously passed our amendment to the City’s Responsible Banking Ordinance. Banks will now have to disclose their sales goals if they are bidding on banking contracts with the city. They have to disclose if workers are disciplined or terminated based on goals, if they are based on sales or customer services, and what they are. The mayor is expected to sign it into law immediately. Thank you to the frontline bank workers, Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, Communications Workers of America, and the Committee for Better Banks for the years of work on this issue — for organizing, rallying, and speaking truth to power.
